Les Sallereins - our dressOur dress
The traditional costumes of the group draw on the dress worn by the owners of the ancient “Chatelard” castle, which dominates the village. The woman dress is composed of a white blouse, chiffon on the shoulders, lace collar and cuffs with a red ribbon knotted on the neckline. The dress is completed by long and white pants with a lace and a red ribbon under the knee and a pair of white socks. The garment is taken in at the waist by a Bordeaux apron edged with a black lace. On the head women wear a starched bonnet made of white lace tied with a ribbon under the chin. During winter shoulders are covered with a woollen cape in the same colour of the dress.
On the contrary the man dress is composed of a long and brown trousers made of wool, closed at the waist by a belt with a buckle and with a trouser flap in front. The shirt is white with long sleeves and a red and knotted ribbon closes the collar. One of the shirt men wear a woollen waistcoat in the same colour of the trousers. They use black leather shoes and a black top hat. During winter men wear a brown woollen jacket in tails.
